Throw those absurd academics and those awful Hollywood phonies overboard, they're nothing but a hindrance. Let real people steer the ship for a change. These filthy rich people only want to impose their "values" on the lower classes. The Democrats should be concerned solely with helping the average family.
Our signature issue is the pro-life issue. We support universal health care, job creation, and the extension of affirmative action (making it class-based). We oppose the Iraqi war, homosexual marriage, and Israeli war-mongers.
This is bad news for lawyers - and parasites and thieves in general. This is bad news for fat finaciers and crypto-communists alike.

President Obama could potentially lead such a movement, but he has shown every indication of being an elitist. He could have a conversion experience regarding abortion and side with the people. He would rely on popular institutions: unions, churches, local government and even (quietly) make common cause with the Republicans to oust the worthless Democratic elites.

The Catholic Church, in function, but not in spirit, mirrors the modern Left.
The Church in many ways was for Medieval France what the Democratic Party is to the present day United States:
1) Both the Church and the Left have been universal in their pretensions.
2) Both the Church and the Left (at least rhetorically) have championed the downtrodden. They both seek to exhibit compassion by founding hospitals and schools and by providing assistance to the poor, the elderly, and the handicapped.
3) Both the Church and the Left have been neither wholly democratic nor wholly elitist. The Church has not been as aristocratic as some have contended. The Church has been (more or less) meritocratic. Lord Acton called Thomas Aquinas "the first Whig". The Left has not consistently sided with democrats. In the United States the Left appeals to unelected judges, academics, bureaucrats. Even the most egalitarian Leftists (levelers like Mao and Pol Pot) have only been egalitarian theoretically, in practice they have elevated themselves to the rank of god-kings.
4) Both the Church and the Left have neither been wholly rational and scientific nor wholly mystical. The Church is reputed to be anti-scientific yet she has fostered scientists like Copernicus (church canon) and Mendel (Augustinian). The Left has lapsed from the church of scientism. Only the most perverse and depressed have remained members. Many on the Left have embraced kooky New Age faiths or deconstructionism.
5) The Church has the Jesuits and the Left has the Comintern.
6) The Church and the Left have eschewed reproduction for their respective clergies. They clearly have more important things to do.
7) The Church was once almost as anti-family as the Left. Remember the numerous Catholic saints who warred with their families (St. Francis of Assisi, St. Clare, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena).
8) The Church and the Left have tolerated/accepted homosexuals in their midst.
9) The Church and the Left venerate a woman. Catholics venerate Mary and Liberals venerate Hilary.
10) Both have constructed and maintained a vaste intellectual ediface in order to justify their preeminence.
11) Both have created a rich and detailed iconography.
12) Both have an affinity for universities. The Church founded them and the Left infests them.
13) Both have conducted crusades in the Holy Land. The Democrats have compelled the United States to give Israel every kind of aid.
14) Both can not do without an opposition made up of militarists, Protestants, capitalists, and the upper class generally. The Church at once confronted and cooperated with the kings and lords and knights and merchants and Lutherans. The Left in the United States at once confronts and cooperates with the Republicans.
15) Both have conducted Inquisitions. Torquemada was sometimes harsh too.
16) Both really like angels (see Angels in America).
But now for the differences - St. Francis was not precisely speaking a hippy and Communism was not (as Toynbee called it) a Christian heresy:
1) The Church has never been as fond of overt displays of sexual hedonism as has the Left.
2) The Church has never appreciated the sacrament of abortion as has the Left.
3) The Church has never delighted in plummeting birth rates as has the Left.
4) The Church has never enjoyed persecuting as much as the commissars of the Left have, look how much entertainment they derived from the gulag, famines, executions, fear. The "Black Legend" of the Spanish Inquisition is an anti-Hispanic myth.

To its credit, however, the Left has been reluctant to Fully degrade the human personality, at least at times.
The problem is simple: The Left has in sinister fashion slipped into our shoes. They have netted millions and hold the keys to power.
The solution: Catholics can not flee and join the right they must recapture the left!

Anti-imperialism is the only popular ideology in today’s world - the only train leaving the station. We either hop on board or get left behind.
We must capture anti-imperialism's sister ideology, socialism, as well. To win control of socialism is to win everything. Socialism is both popular and universal and those connected to it prosper.

Atheism became fashionable among European and American elites in the mid to late 1800's. Comte, Huxely (more exactly an agnostic), Marx, Feuerbach, Nietzsche, were some of its chief proponents. As the followers of these men acquired more and more power in the twentieth century all hell broke loose.
People will believe in something. If they reject Christianity (forgiveness, loving your neighbor, serving the poor) they will seek an alternative. They may become merely superstitious. A small number (the most perverse?) will turn to Scientism – a dogmatic but unrewarding faith that asserts with no justification that the material world is all that exists. More will turn to Social Darwinism or racist Imperialism. Many will convert to Fascism or Communism. They will put their faith in eugenics or national glory or violent revolution. They will believe that the triumph of unfettered capitalism or socialism or one particular ethnic group will usher in a shining new age. Such a victory is worth laying down one's life and many other lives as well.
Today atheism is not quite as fashionable among the elites. Many scientists follow Einstein in rejecting atheism. A number of scientists are impressed by the “anthropic coincidences” and believe in God. Some of those working in quantum mechanics sound almost mystical. However, a few followers of Margaret Sanger (an ardent racist and believer in eugenics) remain, some devotees of Ayn Rand exist, and a few elderly Freudians can be found (to provide comic relief).
We can't let them gain the power they desire. They had their chance and they screwed up.
Some contemplate a future of high-minded atheists exchanging mild banter as they savor their (vegetarian) dinner and exchange pacifist manifestoes – but this is only fantasy.
Atheist self-perception: One who examines Christianity and concludes it is unreasonable. The atheist goes on to live a morally exemplary life.
Atheist reality: Atheists hate Christianity because it places restrictions on them. Some atheists are heartless businessmen, some wish to use women and discard them, some work for a dictator and enjoy eliminating "enemies of the people" - they do not want to worry about rules like "Love thy neighbor." They create a new faith wherein they are the deity.
Conclusion: Atheism was a disaster for the twentieth century - don't let the atheists repeat in the twenty-first!

In a number of countries the Catholic Church has declined catastrophically. In the U.S. (starting in the mid-1960s) the Church has completely collapsed. The Church was once served by prominent politicians in the Republican and especially the Democratic Party. Important universities were devoted to the interests of the Church. The media was not hostile to the Church. How can we reverse this decline? We should:
Recruit Aggressively – like the Mormons do.
Allow Priests to Marry.
Recruit sports figures.
We must define our enemies:

• Moslems are oil sheiks, cruel dictators, and terrorists. Moslem leaders are unable to offer their people justice. We should not condemn Moslems for being pro-family. (We should be equally pro-family. Why should they be the only ones to breed?)

• Protestants are not our worst enemy. They are more to be pitied. They actually believe that the earth is only about 6000 years old and the story of Noah’s Ark actually happened. Also they are upper class. George Bush is their poster boy.

• Atheists are not leftists. They are rightists. They are libertarians.

We must also define ourselves. Catholics are orthodox and pro-life. We venerate our traditions. We are are happy to die for the ideals the martyrs died for. Yet at the same time we are socialists and anti-imperialists. We must firmly attach ourselves to these popular ideologies. American Catholics will not appreciate this tactic, but it is necessary. I picture Catholics fighting back against Moslem violence in Ethiopia, Chad, Cote D'Ivoire, the Sudan, India, the Balkans, Egypt, France, Spain, Germany, Russia, East Timor, the Philippines, and Indonesia. I picture Catholics combating U.S. and English and Israeli imperialism (in Latin America, the Pacific region, the Middle East). I picture Catholics battling U.S. and British corporations. Sometimes we should stay out of a conflict and watch our enemies fight each other. Some of the Middle East wars fall in this category.

To confront some objections:

• Perhaps you think my position is merely incoherent – a strange conglomeration of left and right. I grant you that within the current system my position is incoherent, but that same system has caused our destruction.

• Perhaps you think I am not being charitable enough. My response is: please stop being so naïve. The Church would never have survived without warriors like Charles Martel and Charlemagne.
